Consumer Prices in April, as measured by the CPI, increased by 0.8% in the month. This is the same monthly increase as recorded in April of last year and as a result, the annual rate of inflation remained at 5.1%.
The EU Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) increased by 0.5% in the month, which was the same increase as recorded in April 2006. The annual rate of inflation, as measured by the HICP, was also unchanged at 2.9% in April.
The most notable changes in the year were decreases in Clothing & Footwear (-3.7%) and Furnishings (-1.9%). The annual rate of inflation for Services was 9.1% in April, while Goods increased by 0.4% in the year.
