Shaoxing clothing market eyes Middle East & South America

According to Shaoxing customs statistics, in 2006, the textile and clothing of the city were mainly exported to Middle East and South America. The first 5 export destinations were United Arab Emirates, Iran, Hong Kong, Brazil and Mexico with total export accounted for over 33 percent.
The experts said as EU has cancelled Generalized System of Preference (GSP) to Chinese clothing and textile products, tariff rate of Chinese clothing and textile products exported to EU has increased from 9 to 12 percent, and textile enterprises of Shaoxing have to increase the cost.
Most local textile enterprises have aimed at other areas like Middle East and South America, and it is reported the textile products exported to Malaysia, Bangladesh and Algeria has doubled compared to the same period last year, especially, the export to Pakistan has reached 375.41 percent.
