Xinjiang Autonomous Region Regional Development and Reform Commission recently has made analysis and forecast on cotton yield, production costs and benefits in 2007.

According to the forecast, the net profit and cash proceeds of Xinjiang cotton per mu is expected to increase over the previous year, (one hectare = 15 Chinese mu).

The predictions say that the price per 50 kg of lint in 2007 will rise to 593.43 yuan from 575.43 yuan of last year, up 3.13 percent.

This year the average yield per mu is 109.28 kilograms, 1.48 kg higher than the real yield of 109.28 kilograms last year.

Main reason for the growing yield, is that Xinjiang has introduced better varieties and drip irrigation under plastic film technology in extensive areas.

Up to now, Region has completed more than 14 million mu of cotton planting, 400 mu above last year.
