The Comprehensive Department of the Ministry of Commerce and the International Trade and Economic Cooperation Research Institute jointly issued 2007 spring 'China's foreign trade situation report' on April 17 in Beijing.

The report forecasts that country's total import and export volume in 2007 is expected to exceed US $2.1 trillion, a rise of 20 percent.

The report said that foreign trade continued to maintain a momentum of rapid development under favorable domestic environment in 2006. The total imports and exports reached $1.76069 trillion, a boost of 23.8 percent.

Since the beginning of this year, China's imports and exports have continued to grow rapidly.

Exports of mechanical and electrical products, textiles and clothing, footwear and other predominant merchandise have kept mounting, while imports of primary plastics, iron ore and concentrated ore resources surged.

China's foreign trade with major partners, like EU, US, and Japan, maintained stable growth.

The report believes that 2007 world economy is still in an expansion period. Chinese economy will maintain a stable and relatively fast growth on basis of structure optimization, efficiency promotion, energy saving and lesser consumption.

The overall situation for China's foreign trade development is still more favorable. Thus, 2007 is expected to be a successful year.
