Clothing units must focus on trademark protection - experts

The proseminar 'The intellectual property rights of Chinese clothing enterprises', sponsored by China Patent Protection Association, was recently held in Beijing city.

The experts from Patent Bureau, Copyright Bureau, Industry and Commerce Administration and the lawyers discussed and analyzed the related issues thoroughly.

Delegates pointed out that several Chinese clothing brands frequently encounter problems like fake trademarks illegal imitation of styles, and designs.

They, further, presented ways on how companies could protect themselves. They also suggested that manufacturers should focus on innovation and healthy development.

the forum took said that all struggling and developing businesses should tke example of Hangzhou Jiangnan Buyi Clothing Co Ltd and form and follow similar strategies.

Experts said that long time and large amounts of money were needed for Chinese brands to apply for the patent protection and copyright.

Though the cost was very high, the protection power was weak. Analysts advised that the domestic units concentrate on protection of trademarks and work in harmony with other garment enterprises
