Bremen cotton market - widely diverging market

While many cotton merchants have only been moderately pleased, some merchants experienced a very good, others a very disappointing week. For a while, prices had been varying strongly which led to uncertainty on the market.

Meeting the right moment, good contracts could be closed, but eventually the New York Futures Market has recovered and strengthened; with the consequence of reluctant customers. Testing inquiries occurred to some extent with no serious interest in purchasing. The slightly weakening Euro had a negative influence on the prices, too.

For the 3rd quarter 2007 a substantial amount of contracts could be closed for Central Asian and West African descriptions as well as some Greek. The sale of raw material for the 4th quarter has also been satisfied by the above mentioned regions.

Cotton from Central Asia, West Africa, Greek and India has been sold for the 1st quarter 2008. Moreover some Greek cotton has already been ordered for the 2nd quarter 2008.

The need of ELS-cotton for near dates and the 4th quarter 2007 has been covered by Sudan Barakat.
