According to General Statistics Office, the consumer price index (CPI) in May rose 0.77 percent over April and 7.3 percent over the same month last year.
Ho Chi Minh and Can Tho Cities in the country reported the highest CPI increase at 1.58 percent and 1.01 percent respectively but capital Hanoi and the Central Highlands province Dak Lak recorded the lowest rise of 0.46 percent and 0.37 percent correspondingly.
The prices of textiles and apparels rose because of increased demand among consumers. Gold rates also rose by 2.33 percent for the month.
