Theme conferences on Organic Viticulture and Fruits, Organic Fibers and Textiles and Organic Cosmetics and Body Care will take place in the Province of Modena from June 16-17 2008. The IFOAM General Assembly will be held in Modena from June 22-24 2008.

Cultivate the future is the title of the 16th IFOAM Organic World Congress, because we believe that the contribution made by organic agriculture is fundamental for guaranteeing generations to come with a healthy, fair, correct environment for harmonious living that respects people and the earth.

The Modena area boasts centuries old agro-food tradition that is a benchmark for world food and wine, and the development and growth of organic agriculture plays a central role, from both an economic point of view and also in preservation of the land itself.

Modena is a land of pioneers and a cradle of organic agriculture in Italy, not only because of the methods and cultivation techniques used, but also due to its culture of living in harmony with Mother Earth.

The city will warmly welcome the 16th IFOAM Organic World Congress “Cultivate the Future”, plus the researchers, experts, producers and all those interested in debating the questions represented by the 4 Principles of Organic Agriculture: Health, Ecology, Fairness and Care.

It will also show its guests how the system of organic farming works throughout the area, thus opening up constructive dialogue and active exchange of information and good practice.
