Cotton Council International India organized a unique fashion show last Tuesday in Kolkata, showcasing collections by designers Mona-Pali and Kiran Uttam Ghosh.
Being part of the association's 'Cool with Cotton' campaign, this event focused on cotton and aimed to promote it as a cool fabric for scorching Indian summer.
In western world the popularity of cotton is diminishing and the Council hopes to work so that same doesn't happen in India.
Experts say that since cotton is a natural fabric, its clothes are not only light and soft but also breathable, unlike synthetics. Today, cotton fashion has reached an elite position, providing presentable and trendy outfits.
The show displayed cotton creations including casual dresses, skirts, tops and formal wear, especially, in whites, pastels and light-toned, refreshing and soothing colors.
