Export surplus continues upward trend in April

In April 2007, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 90.4 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 78.5 billion. As a result, the net trade surplus was SEK 11.9 billion.
Foreign trade resulted in a net trade surplus of SEK 11.9 billion in April 2007 according to preliminary calculations from Statistics Sweden. The surplus for April 2006 was SEK 11.9 billion.
The value of exports in April 2007 amounted to SEK 90.4 billion, while imports were valued at SEK 78.5 billion. Compared to April 2006, exports have increased in value by 6 percent, while imports have increased in value by 7 percent. There was one extra weekday in April 2007 compared to April 2006.
Trade with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 12.0 billion, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of SEK 0.1 billion.
Seasonally adjusted, the net trade surplus amounted to SEK 11.9 billion in April 2007 and also SEK 11.9 billion in March 2007. The corresponding figure for February 2007 was SEK 12.0 billion.
The net trade balance for January – April 2007 resulted in a surplus of SEK 47.7 billion:
During this period, the value of exports have increased in value by 5 percent, while imports have increased by 9 percent in value compared to the corresponding period one year ago.
Exports amounted to SEK 372.2 billion, and imports were valued at SEK 324.5 billion, resulting in a net trade surplus of SEK 47.7 billion for January – April 2007. The corresponding surplus figure for these months in 2006 was SEK 57.3 billion.
Imports and exports have been adjusted up by SEK 6.4 billion and SEK 3.1 billion respectively in the first quarter of 2007. As a result, the net trade of goods has been adjusted down for the same period by SEK 3.3 billion.
