The Primary Objectives of the Association are to promote, foster and protect the rights and privileges of its members and to establish, maintain and conduct a forum to resolve matters pertaining to the Apparel Industry that affect the members and their rights. The Association together with the Joint Apparel Association Forum represents its members before government departments, institutions and statutory bodies.
Under the able leadership of the Association's chairman, Channa Palansuriya, the Association continues to play a lead role together with JAAF and represents its members at discussions with the BOI, Treasury, Ministry of Textiles, EDB, Inland Revenue, Customs Dept and also takes up all matters that affect the membership either directly or indirectly and most issues are resolved satisfactorily. AEA 200 GFP was also involved in travel overseas and participated in market promotion campaigns and lobbied for duty free access in the US and the EU.
The aim of the Association is to promote Sri Lanka globally as a preferred manufacturing source that upholds ethical practices whilst contributing immensely to the economic development of the country. AEA 200 GFP is in fact promoting the efforts together with other Apparel Associations under the leadership of JAAF to synergize 'ethical brands' with "apparels made in Sri Lanka" which will place Sri Lanka as a destination that does not permit child labour, promote sweatshops and suffer from labour and compliance issues.
