Technical University of Melaka professor, Mohammed Dan Mohammed Palil, has created a unique bullet-proof jacket using coconut fibre and fibre-glass.

This innovation has made vests much lighter and cheaper as compared to regular ones, as it weighs only about 3 kgs and is priced around $590 or 2,000 ringgit.

Professor, who worked on this project for two years, is urging the Government to approve mass production of this jacket.

He stresses that this vest, which won a gold medal at a recent international exhibition of inventions in Geneva, abides by the international standards.
