Supermodel Iman to grace Project Runway Canada

The series will find 12 designers competing for the once-in-lifetime chance to show collections at a premiere fashion event in fall 2007. Ultimately, one designer will claim their rightful place in the spotlight, winning the top prize, including $100 000 to begin their own fashion line and a feature spread showing their winning collection in the pages of the country's foremost fashion magazine. Produced by Insight Production Company Ltd, the highly-anticipated Canadian adaptation of the Emmy-nominated US series, developed by Miramax and The Weinstein Company for Bravo, is set to debut with Slice's™ fall 2007 season. Iman began her modelling career in 1975 and has challenged the prevailing notions of beauty ever since. The daughter of an African diplomat, Iman was born in Somalia and grew up speaking five languages. She studied political science at Nairobi University where she was discovered by legendary photographer Peter Beard. After her first modelling assignment for Vogue in 1976, Iman was an instant success in the fashion world and a muse for famous designers including Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, Calvin Klein and Donna Karan. During her 14 years as a model, she worked with top photographers Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon, Irving Penn and Annie Leibovitz.
