Turnover with environmental protection products up 5%

Environmental protection turnover in the field of air quality control amounted to a total of EUR 3.8 billion, followed by waste management (EUR 1.8 billion) and noise abatement (EUR 1.6 billion). Turnover in the latter environmental areas was achieved mainly by sales of goods.
When broken down by economic sectors, turnover with goods, construction operations and services for environmental protection shows the following picture: Manufacturing achieved a total environmental protection turnover of EUR 8.7 billion, most of which by selling goods.
The production of environmental protection products in 2005 focused on the branches of manufacture of machinery and equipment (EUR 2.6 billion) and manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (EUR 2.4 billion).
In construction, turnover of EUR 2.3 billion was achieved almost only by construction operations. In business services, turnover amounted to about EUR 1.2 billion, with the branches of architecture as well as technical testing and analysis accounting for the largest amounts.
