Trade promotion mission to procure 360K tons US cotton

'Cotton trade cooperation promotion mission' led by Wang Shenyang, President of Textile Chamber, visited Texas, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Washington DC, last month.

He met with two senior federal officials, three governors, one representative of a governor, had extensive contacts with the US cotton industry organizations, cooperatives and main exporters and farmers.

Shenyang also held variety of trade activities, enjoyed full exchanges and communication on Sino-US development of textile and cotton trade.

On May 18, the 'signing ceremony of Sino-US cotton trade' was held in Memphis, covering 32 contracts, procuring 360,000 tons of US cotton worth $500 million.

During this visit, Governments and industries from China and the US fully affirmed the positive role of bilateral trade in promoting their respective economic expansion and growing employment. They expressed keen interest to further promote mutual understanding and cooperation.

They expect that the Governments and industries from the two countries work together to strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations, benefiting both countries.

This visit has achieved better than expected results, leaving a positive impact on the US.
