31st Enterprise India inaugurated in Bucharest, Romania

In the backdrop of the resurgent India, Confederation of Indian Industry in association with the Embassy of India in Bucharest with the support of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, organised the 31st Enterprise India at Romexpo from 5th to 8th June 2007.

Over 50 exhibiting companies are showcasing the dynamism of Indian Small and Medium Enterprises. It aims to encourage and promote Indian exports, joint ventures, technology transfers, marketing arrangements with business parters in Romania and build a strong image of Indian industry and its products in Romania.

Speaking at the Inauguration, Mr. Ram Mohan, Ambassador of India in Bucharest, said, “Between 2002 and 2006, the comercial trade between Romania and India increased by almost 4 times, from 131.6 mil USD in 2001 to 475.4 mil USD in 2006. He said that in less than 10 years, India will represent one of the most important trade and business partners for Romania”.

Mr George Cojocaru, President of the Romexpo SA appreciated the Indian participation and emphasised on special attention to the participation by the Indian entrepreneurs in future fairs of Romexpo.

He also mentioned that Romexpo is looking to organise fairs in India in collaboration with CII. Mr Cojocaru also assured to resolve the hurdles faced by Indian Entrepreneurs while participating in Romanian fairs.

Mr Gurpal Singh, Deputy Director General, Confederation of Indian Industry emphasised on the need to further increase bilateral trade and relations between the two countries - Enterprise India is the initiative in that direction.
