The “Mumbai Region” of The Society of Dyers and Colourists Education Charity, India organised, a day long International Conference at the “Intercontinental the Grand” Hotel, Mumbai, on the 1st June 2007.
The event attracted a record 448 delegates, from a wide range of colour-related disciplines. DyStar were the Lead Sponsors for the conference with , Huntsman as Associate Sponsor and Arvind Mills, Clariant Chemicals India, LN Chemicals and SF Dyes Pvt Ltd, participated as the conference Supporters and Atul Ltd, Colourtex, Control Union, Premier Colorscan, Datacolor, Texanlab and Intertek were the conference promoters.
With “Coloration, Innovation and Regulations” as its central theme, the conference –– offered insights into new research, new thinking and new practices in the coloration of Cellulosics. The presentations highlighted technological developments destined to shape the future of colour and the regulation aspects for the Textile Industry.

In the year that marks the 150th anniversary of the discovery of the world's first synthetic dye by William Henry Perkin, the Society launched the 2006 Perkin Innovation Award to honour an individual, company or organisation that has made an outstanding contribution to colour in recent years.
The award for 2006 was presented to Dr Ram Sabnis CCol (USA) for the development of the world's first coloured bubbles. The prize included a specially commissioned Perkin trophy, along with a cheque for £2500 to be spent on education and training in the field of colour.
