Paolo Banfi awards prizes to 10 students

Jun '07
At the awards ceremony held on June 7th at the Association's head offices, Paolo Banfi, President of the ACIMIT Foundation, awarded prizes to 10 students majoring in textile engineering at Italian universities and Italian technical textile institutes, winners of the annual competition organised by the ACIMIT Foundation for research conducted in the field of the textile machinery industry.

Contrary to the prizes awarded over previous years, this year's award does not comprise a monetary prize, but instead includes a three-day trip to Munich to attend ITMA 2007 this coming September. This trip will provide the prize-winning students with a firsthand look at cutting edge technology, as presented by Italian and global textile machinery manufacturers.

A further novelty for the 2006/2007 competition is its extension to third year university students majoring in textile engineering.

The competition's awards ceremony, which was attended by the professors who assisted the students in their research, is yet another element in the increasingly broad-reaching relationships the ACIMIT Foundation is promoting with textile research and training organisms throughout Italy.

Such collaborative efforts are not merely limited to handing out scholarships, but also promote the realisation and distribution to students of a series of technology publications aimed at providing detailed illustrations of current state-of-the-art technical and engineering specifications in Italy's textile machinery sector (an industry which employs 22,000 people and grossed 2.7 billion Euros in 2006).
