The “plus” share purchase program for BASF employees has once again been very successful in 2007: More than 18,000 workers have bought employee shares for roughly €37 million.
“About 40 percent of our workforce in Germany has participated in the share program – a pleasingly high level as in previous years,” said Hans-Carsten Hansen, Director, Competence Center Human Resources at BASF. The “plus” program, as well as the annual bonus, are one of BASF's voluntary bonuses for its employees.
Under the program, employees have the opportunity to invest their annual bonus in “plus” shares. If these shares are held over a longer period, the owner will receive additional free shares from the company. In 2007, BASF awarded its employees more than 200,000 of these incentive shares.
Employees at roughly 40 BASF Group companies worldwide can participate in the “plus” program.
