The company also plans to more than double the capacity of its paper operations. “A total investment of Rs. 6880 million is being made for both installation of pulp and paper machine and setting up of a 20 MW captive power plant. This will increase the capacity of production of paper by additional 275 tpd and would also increase the generation of energy by additional 20 MW. The project will be commissioned by the third quarter of the year 2007-08”, he added.
Trident has proposed to set up a sheeting fabric unit with an investment of Rs. 950 crore in Budni, in Bhopal. “We've acquired 700 acres of land privately and is awaiting clearance for another 125 acres. Work on the project is likely to start after rainy season,” reminisced Mr. Gupta.
The company is likely to scale up the quantum of its investment at a later stage. Initially, it will create direct employment for more than 3,000 people. The unit will have a capacity of 2 lakh spindles and 400 looms. The company is also in talk for other agro related project with the government at a later stage.
“We plan to create a leader out of every member in the company. We expect to have revenues of $1 billion by 2010”, quoted Mr. Gupta.
