Spandex imports through Ningbo Ports dropped substantially since last year, as China imposed anti-dumping measures on shipments from Japan, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan and the US.
According to Ningbo customs statistics, from January to May, China has imported around 579 tons of spandex, representing a decline of 52.3 percent, which was worth $2.861 million, a plunge of 17.5 percent, from the same period last year.
From January to May, spandex imported through Ningbo Port was mainly used in general trade, with prices rising considerably. The average price was up 73 percent over the same period last year.
After the hike in prices Germany has become the main supplier of spandex.
