New Craft - Future Voices Conference & Exhibition 2007 in July

We are delighted to announce that online registration is now open for the New Craft - Future Voices Conference & Exhibition 2007, which will be held on 04-06 July 2007 at the University of Dundee.

A conference about the experience of creating craft in the 21st Century, bringing together makers, researchers, managers, curators, theoreticians and historians from throughout the world for 3 days of discussion, debate and creative inspiration.

Digital, Radical, Innovative, Fine, D.I.Y, Process, Craftivism and Hobbyist craft - this event seeks to capture the diveristy of activities within the crafts and take stock of its fast changing cultural and creative role.

NCFV will address the themes of “Collaborative Practice, Dialogue, Craft Intelligence, Critical Engagement, Aesthetics and Communication”. It will explore craft issues currently being investigated via doctoral research, post-doctoral research and craft practitioners, and will document new ways of questioning and disseminating the dialogue of craft practice.

NCFV is delighted with the great response to our conference call with 145 submissions from 16 countries! The great interest promises to make the conference a truly international event with dynamic debates around the conference themes.

The areas of textiles, ceramics, jewellery, plasterwork, curating and creative management are included, with the issues of social and political strategy, enterprise management, sustainability,identity, digital craft and digital aesthetics being debated.
