Board Of Investment to showcase Apparel industry at Las Vegas

Speaking at a meeting held at the Board Of Investment (BOI) premises, Sarath Amunugama – Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion stated that the BOI would be happy to extend its support to the local textile and apparel industry by contributing towards the costs relating to showcase a 'Sri Lanka Pavilion' at Sourcing at MAGIC – North America's largest apparel & fabric sourcing show.

Richard Merrin – Commercial Attaché of US Embassy in Sri Lanka, A.M.C. Kulasekara – Deputy Director General of the BOI, Hiran Jayasinghe – Representative for MAGIC and representatives from several leading companies in the apparel sector and several BOI officials were present at this meeting.

The Show will connect more than 750 contract & original design manufacturers, fabric & trim suppliers, print design studios, and service providers from over 30 countries to branded apparel & accessory companies, importers, designers, and product development teams from major retailers.

Organized by MAGIC International, a subsidiary of Advanstar Communications, Inc., the event is scheduled to be held at the Las Vegas Convention Centre from August 27 to 30, this year.

Sourcing at Magic is the only apparel trade event that has a partnership with the US Department of Commerce. It is organized twice a year and statistics show that MAGIC buyers are worth US$ 181 billion and 93 percent make purchases as a result of attending the show. Furthermore, 91 percent find new suppliers at the event and 79 percent of the visitors make purchase orders at the show itself.
