Textile industry is to get a major lift with the setting up of Park near Konaje in Mangalore. As per state Government plans, greater job prospects in the state will be generated on commencing textile city in every district.

Currently 300 acres of land has already been reserved for this project, and if investors keep adding, then Government is open to allot bigger land in the region.

A part of the land purchased by Karnataka Industrial Areas' Development Board (KIADB) for IT industry and some other sectors, is also set aside for the textile city developments.

Further, youngsters seeking jobs in this new project would be trained first by the Handloom department.

However, manpower requirement in this industry is great as the Bangalore textile park itself needs around 2 lac people for its operations.
