Copenhagen Fashion Week, which took place this month of August, where summer 2006 is presented, was a spectacle of the now, well known, characteristic Danish design of great clothes - practical and sensual, ethereal and street wise, intellectual and usable, elegant and relaxed.
Good taste and innovative thinking, with unusual colour combinations and the famous light embroidery at terrific prices. New and upcoming designers were also introduced - everything being presented at the two fashion fairs, CIFF and CPH Vision and at numerous separate designer shows around town at spectacular an unusual places.
The wet, stormy scenery outside The Opera by the sea front actually underlined In Wear's and Matinique's wear ability and the proof of a good product. With In Wear's simple lines in gathered or pleated skirts, shorts, cardigans, short, fitted jackets and lovely yellow, pink and sky blue silk dresses for women.
And in Matinique's colourful striped shirts and T-shirts, casual loose jackets and trousers as well as sophisticated suits for the men. In olive, grey, green, beige and blue - plus contrasts of lime, dark pink, orange and white.
Elegance is a key work for both this winter and next summer. Just like the men's more elegant look of blazers, suits and separates shown in neutral light and darker colours as well as a casual, sporty and colourful style.
The colours for next summer – green, sun yellow, orange, coral, rose, transparent ice blue, sky blue, purple, white, faded earth, amber, brown and sulphur yellow.
