Sioen's Coating division achieves higher gross profit

The Apparel division is the European market leader in industrial protective clothing and specific technical sportswear. We continue to invest in niches of the high value protective clothing market like bulletproof vests, firefighting clothing, lifejackets and forestry clothing.

During the nine months to end September 2007 the Industrial Applications division achieved solid 9.6 % growth compared with the same period last year (up from € 61.6 million to € 67.5 million).

This growth rests on two cornerstones:
- Transport: Continuous optimization of its industrial processes, extensive specialization and a favourable economic situation have enabled the Group to achieve above-average growth here. We are the preferred partner of well-known trailer builders for manufacturing tarpaulins and curtains for trucks and containers. We also produce railway tarpaulins. Here too our technical innovations have won us a significant position on the European market.

- Processing of technical textiles:Our processing activity continues to perform strongly. Orders for cutting interior parts for the car manufacturing industry, welding of pool foils and production of kadors are just some examples of a constantly growing activity.
