The management of Arkema's Functional Additives business unit has presented yesterday a plan for an evolution of the Crosby, TX site in order to strengthen the competitiveness of this facility.
The Crosby site manufactures organic peroxides supplied to the polymer manufacturing, rubber and composites industries. The proposed evolution will enable Arkema to more effectively utilize the capabilities of its production facilities in North America.
This plan would entail a reorganization of the Crosby site and would result in the elimination of 26 positions from the current headcount of 84.
The Crosby plant produces liquid organic peroxides that are used primarily in the production of plastic resins, polystyrene, polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC and polyester reinforced fiberglass, and acrylic resins.
Many consumer products that we use everyday, ranging from automobiles and food packaging to health and cleaning products, owe their beginnings to organic peroxides.
