The Agency's core staff, composed of temporary agents, will grow from 101 to 220 by the end of 2008. Furthermore, the Management Board appointed members of the Committee for Risk Assessment from the list of nominees proposed by the Member States.
The names and professional affiliations of the members are annexed. Risk Assessment Committee is one of the two scientific Committees playing a key role in preparation of the Agency opinions relating to risks to human health or the environment of chemicals. The Committee's opinion can involve evaluations, applications for authorization, proposals for restrictions and for classification and labelling of chemical substances.
Appointments to the Member States Committee and the Forum having been made earlier, three out of the four ECHA Committees can start working now. The appointment of the members of the Committee for Socio-economic Analysis will be decided at the next meeting of the Management Board which will take place in February 2008.
