Wednesday evening for Indorama Synthetics (I) Pvt Ltd, was almost like the night was put on a furnace. This fibre producing company in Butibori suffered considerable loss because of glaring fire that virtually engulfed an entire godown.
In an exclusive interview with Fibre2fashion, official from Indorama stated that "The warehouse essentially housed Polyyester Oriented Yarn (POY) and Fully Drawn Yarn (FDY)". The storehouse is situated between CPU 2 and CPU 3 godowns and one other CPU has been kept closed for maintainence.
Authentic sources informed that raw materials worth crores have been devastated in the mishap. However, the exact estimate of the loss is still being assessed.
Although fire tenders took nearly 5 hours to bring the fire under control reports of injury to any of the workers has been in the negative. Fire tenders from Nagpur and Butibori MIDC and fire tankers from Wardha were also pressed into service.
Experts, nevertheless, confided that the plant was well insured not only for fire but also for loss of profit due to fire. It is therefore hoped that the accident would not impede future operations. Reason behind the fire and the amount of loss is yet to be figured out.
