Indian textiles threw open a plethora rich and versatile artistic creations including block-printed and painted fabrics floor spreads, tent panels, temple hangings, ceiling cloths, coverlets and canopies produced in Rajasthan and South India. Brocaded fabrics encompassed Baluchari and jamdani saris from West Bengal, do-rukha paithani sari from Maharashtra, Kani woollen shawls from Kashmir, zari silk with jala technique from Benaras, coverlet in kantha embroidery and several fragments from Banjara community of Andhra Pradesh.

Equally astounding were the homespun and hand woven 'haku patasi' (black sari), 'daura suruwal', 'patuka' (waistband), and 'bhadgunale' (black cap) of Nepal. Most striking are the jacquard woven portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Tulsi Meher.

Products from Pakistan showcases richly patterned and attractive textiles, especially the embroidered traditional pashtoon and balochi dress, carpets, cushions and jhalar from Balochistan. Some wall hangings and neck pieces showing Punjabi, Sindhi and Balochi embroidery on it, are also presented at the expo.

Finally comes Bangladesh, whose exquisite collection of Dhakai jamdani muslin has made its mark in the international textile industry. In addition muslin cloth, shawls and saris with nakshikantha embroidery, tangail check and baluchari sari, Mirpur brocade sari, and reversible brocade stole are also attracting a huge crowd at the fair.
