In January, an 8.4% year-on-year increase in industrial production was influenced by a rise in manufacturing by 9.1%, in electricity, gas and water supply by 4.7% and by a decrease in mining and quarrying by 0.7 %.
In manufacturing, considerable growing trend continued in manufacture of transport equipment (by 37.9%). Production increased faster than on average also in manufacture of rubber and plastic products (by 19.1%), in manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (by 16.8%) and in manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products and nuclear fuel (by 10.3%).
Production continued to decrease in manufacture of leather and leather products by 11.6%, in manufacture of wood and wood products by 11%, in manufacture of textiles and textile products by 10 % and in manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products by 9.9%. Manufacture of electrical and optical equipment was down also after a long-lasting growth (by 4.1%).
Concerning the purpose of final use, the development was influenced by a rise in production of investment goods by 24.2%, durable consumer goods by 7%, production related to energy by 5.6% and production of nondurable consumer goods by 5.5%. Production of intermediate goods decreased by 2.4%.
