According to a latest report from General Department of Customs, the import prices for cotton in the first month of 2008 saw a year–on–year rise of 16.4 percent, quoted at US $1,092 – $1,520 per ton.
Among all suppliers, prices from the Indian enterprises were quite high. The average price for the January month was quoted at $1,447 per ton. The figures rose up 18.2 percent over the similar period 2007.
Cotton prices quoted at Taiwan market was $1,381 per ton, up by 11 percent in comparison with December 2007 and a boost of 14.2 percent is observed against same period last year.
The price from Switzerland enterprises grew 13.7 percent against similar period 2007, quoted at $1,469 per ton on average.
