Value of exports soars in February

In February 2008, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 105.8 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 88.7 billion. As a result, the net trade surplus was SEK 17.1 billion.
Foreign trade resulted in a net trade surplus of SEK 17.1 billion in February 2008 according to preliminary calculations from Statistics Sweden. The surplus for February 2007 was SEK 10.3 billion.
The value of exports in February 2008 amounted to SEK 105.8 billion, while imports were valued at SEK 88.7 billion. Compared to February 2007, exports increased by 18 percent in value, while imports increased by 12 percent. The number of weekdays in February 2008 was one more compared to February 2007.
Trade with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 15.7 billion, while the EU trade resulted in a surplus of 1.4 billion.
Seasonally adjusted, the net trade surplus amounted to SEK 12.9 billion in February 2008, compared to SEK 12.7 billion in January 2008. The corresponding figure for December 2007 was SEK 12.4 billion
The net trade balance for December 2007 – February 2008 resulted in a surplus of SEK 39.5 billion:
During this period, the value of exports have increased in value by 10 percent, imports also increased by 10 percent in value compared to the corresponding period one year ago.
Exports amounted to SEK 298.5 billion, and imports were valued at SEK 259.0 billion, resulting in a net trade surplus of SEK 39.5 billion for December 2007 – February 2008. The corresponding surplus figure for these months in 2006 and 2007 was SEK 34.0 billion.
