Vietnam, is determined to send six samples of cloth made from natural fibre to a fashion festival, that will be held in June at Warsaw, Poland.

This festival is a part of the International Year of Natural Fibre which is introduced by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The samples will essentially include a wide variety of splendid cloth created by a number of ethnic people belonging to various regions in Vietnam.

While the H'mong ethnic people in northern mountainous Ha Giang Province will send cloth made of flax; cotton cloth samples will be send by Muong ethnic people in northern Hoa Binh Province. Besides, craftsmen from the Van Phuc Silk Village in northern Ha Tay Province will offer ramie fibre and silk for the international festival.

Plans of sending a 2,100 years old ramie fibre originating from the Dong Son culture age is also under consideration.

This event aims to revive the natural fibre production and manual weaving industry which is slowing moving towards its end.

It is hoped that the festival will inspire more and more people to adopt the trend of utilizing and manufacturing natural fibre.
