According to the statistics provided by the customs of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, export value of fur clothes to Russia reached US $11 million in January 2008, up three times than the previous record.
Most of the enterprises exporting fur to Russia belonged to Hebei Province, Inner Mongolia and Shandong Province.
Shenyang Customs strongly believes that this remarkable increase was because of the efforts made by clothes enterprises to expand exports before the implementation of the new Russian policy.
Starting from January 15, 2008, Russia annulled the system of a fixed tax in Shenyang port and as a result prices of fur clothes exported to Russia has increased by leaps and bounds. Moreover, both transportation and trade have also been seriously affected.
Additionally, with effect from January 22 this year, Shenyang port has brought to an end, the transportation to Russia through chartered planes because of increased cost of conveyance.
