The spinning unit of Nandan Exim Ltd caught fire at around 2 PM on 5th May 2008 damaging approximately 30000 bales of cotton.
The total losses are reported to be around Rs 30 crores. The plant and raw material are fully insured. No casualty has been reported due to fire.
A quick and astute response of Ahmedabad Fire Brigade and villagers saved the sophisticated plant from any damage. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.
The company has meanwhile tied up with cotton yarn suppliers to maintain continuity in downstream production of Denim and bottom-weight fabrics.
“A team of senior managers is working assiduously to restart operations of spinning unit at the earliest”, stated Ved Prakash Chiripal, Chairman of Nandan Exim Limited.
