Mitsubishi Chemical Corp, one of the top petrochemical companies of Japan, is going on outage for preventive maintenance for two of its ethylene plants from today.
No 1 unit of its Kashima ethylene plant, which is capable of producing 380000 tons of ethylene per year, will remain closed for another 50 days.
Sources from Mitsubishi Chemical Corp informed, the company will also begin maintenance programme at its Mizushima plant on Thursday and will continue till June 4. This facility has the capacity to produce 450,000 tons of ethylene yearly.
Along with these, No 2 unit of the Kashima plant will also be checked and is expected to remain closed for 45 days starting from July 4. This plant has capacity of producing 450000 tons of ethylene a year, but due to fire last year December, it is reduce to 82 percent and came down to 369,000 tons.
