An inspection was made on the sewing threads of Jiangying City, Jiangsu Province which were to be exported to Europe.
The reports revealed that most of these sewing threads for clothes contained a high level of azo group dye which has been prohibited use in European countries.
The export company has been given the option of changing the sewing threads and failure to comply would only result in returning of the shipment.
Experts believe that presently in China, most of the garment producing enterprises pays attention to avoiding azo group dyes for their fabric but this meticulosity has not been shown by small accessory producing companies including sewing thread firms.
In order to protect the local clothes export enterprises from unnecessary loss, the quality and quarantine bureau has asked the domestic garment export companies to adhere to quality standards and get their products examined before transaction.
