Machinery ranked second largest in the import bill as its figures stood at $5.898 billion in July-April of this fiscal year, reflecting a rise of 7.68 percent from $5.477 billion of the year before. However, textile machinery in particular, dropped by 16.01 percent.
The total import bill including agriculture and chemical products reached $32.061 billion in the period under review, reflecting a growth of over 28.28 percent as compared to $24.99 billion in the corresponding period of last year.
