A report of the EU Committee revealed that most of the European countries were plagued by counterfeit products flooding their markets and China was identified as one of the largest supplier of these fake products.
An investigation study showed that while the quantity of fake brands in household supplies went up sharply, that of clothes, jewelry and luxury goods remained almost the same.
Of all the goods disapproved under counterfeit charges, 58 percent belonged to China while the place of origin for another 15 percent was unclear.
With every passing year, China is gradually emerging to be the largest production base for counterfeit goods. Paradoxically, even the domestic market is troubled with fake products as the quantity of these goods is constantly going up.
Experts opine that if the trend continues this way, China will very soon lose most of its potential export markets in EU and elsewhere.
