Touchroad International, a Shanghai based company having presence in 18 countries across west and southern Africa, has disclosed plans of investing some US $250 million for developing five industrial parks across the continent with the first one coming up in Botswana soon.
The project is one of the biggest ever done by Touchroad International Trading Ltd in Africa and for the park in Gabarone, Botswana it will provide direct funding of over $50 million.
Ms Joanna, Vice Managing Director of Touchroad, told Fibre2fashion, “We have plans of setting up textile, jewelry & a commercial centre for the industrial park. The whole project is divided into three phases and the first one will get completed in a period of two years.”
The construction for the Botswana Park on a 5 square kilometer site in the capital involves an expenditure of $200 million and was due to start in May. Once completed, the park will generate some 8,000 jobs and offer a range of services, including factories for the textile and other sectors.
