First batch of differently-abled soldiers who had successfully completed the course in gem-cutting training at National Gem and Jewellery Authority at Eheliyagoda, were awarded certificates recently.
The soldiers possessing these certificates were donated with Rs.65,000/= worth of gem cutting machine, at a function held at Ehaliyagoda Gilan Ceremonial Hall.
Further, gem cutting training course for the second batch of 12 soldiers were inaugurated at this function.
Apart from this, Officers of National Gem and Jewellery Authority, Department of Agrarian Services and other State institutions organized a “Mini Piyasa” program to resolve the problems faced by the people engaged in the field of gem and jewellery in Eheliyagoda Division.
Many gem and jewellery problems related to gem mining, gem auction licence were resolved at this Mini Piyasa program.
