With the aim of providing local enterprises the opportunity to explore markets in South Asia, the Government of Taiwan will make arrangements to allow business delegates to visit Bangladesh in July.

Presently, there are some 33 Taiwan enterprises investing in Bangladesh and the Taiwan Runwing Textile Co Ltd which owns about 10,000 workers in the country is just one of them.

Another firm, Oudima Women Shoe Manufacturer operates in Bangladesh while mainly exporting a large part of its goods to Japan.

The Government of Taiwan was right in assuming that the textile and clothing industry in Bangladesh has the advantages of low labor wages, duty-free access to US and EU markets for exports and rich human resource.

Additionally, Bangladesh will also cater favorable policies in many areas in order to attract foreign investments and this would allow Taiwanese enterprises to reduce their cost of production and operation.

Taiwanese Government has therefore given an impetus to domestic enterprises asking them to consider Bangladesh as an important production base while exploring foreign markets.
