Asian benzene market looked steady on Wednesday, July 2, FOB Korea closed in a range of US $1341.50-1342.50 per ton; Southeast Asia market closed in a range of $1328.50-1329.50 per ton.
ExxonMobil in the United States set benzene price of July contract at 416 cts / gal ($1245/mt), down 15 cents from June. This price level was down $97 / mt from the market price (FOB) on Wednesday, and $72.80 / mt lower than June average market price (FOB).
The aromatics device of TonenGeneral in Sakai, Osaka, is expected to go under maintenance during September, as a small fire broke out in one of its facilities. This report had a minor influence on benzene price.
It is learnt that the benzene plant with an annual capacity of l4.31 million tons from TonenGeneral mainly provides supply to Mitsui in Osaka. However, Mitsui devices are under maintenance at present, therefore it will have little effect on its production.
