Thailand Textile Institute recently released data for exports made by the textile and garment industry, in the first four months of 2008.
According to the statistics, export turnover of Thailand reached nearly US $2.30 billion from January to April this year. It marks a significant growth of 8.6 percent when compared to same period of 2007.
From the total export earnings, textile products accounted for almost $1.245 billion, showcasing a year-on-year rise of 12.3 percent,where as garment sector contributed around $1.064 billion, witnessing a yearly boost of 4.6 percent.
US remained the biggest overseas market for Thailand, as the nation fetched approximately $625.6 million through export of textile and garment in the first four months of 2008, up by 4.2 percent.
European Union acquired second position. The country earned foreign currency worth $415.4 million from January to April 2008 in exports to the EU. This shows a slight rise of 5.14 percent when compared to same period of 2007.
Thailand fetched revenues of around $333.8 million from ASEAN regions, a considerable hike of 19.21 percent and $152.3 million from Japan, a rise of 22.72 percent.
