Textile bodies issue ultimatum to govt to start negotiations

The meeting of stake holders of textile industry was held in Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry which was largely attended by the chairman and vice chairmen of different associations and other trade bodies and it was decided that since there no outcome of appeals and negotiations of different trade associations with the representatives of government we have to adopt serious and aggressive approach to get our problems solved as it is going to be a matter of life & death for textile industry.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Siraj Kassam Taile, The former president of Karachi Chamber and a leader of business community of Karachi and co-chaired by the sitting president of Karachi Chamber besides chairmen of different associations Mr. Iqbal Ibrahim, The Chairman of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association also participated in meeting and expressed solidarity with Karachi Chamber and said we all will follow the steps Karachi Chamber will take and join the call of strike.

Concluding Decision by Mr. Siraj Tele:
An advertisement will be released in leading news papers of Sunday or Monday and we will make an appeal to the government to include members of the business community in different government committees and no decision should be taken without signature of the nominee of the business community, The business community will give ultimatum of 48 hours to government to start negotiations with the nominees on modes operandi of restorations of facilities.

One member from Karachi Chamber was proposed to be included in Board of Governors of Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

Mr. Nisar Sheikhani was proposed to be included in National Electric Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

Mr. Javed Bilwani was proposed to be included in Committee working on R&D issue.

Mr. Muzammil of Towel Association was proposed to be included in Committee working on solving matters of “Withholding Tax”.
