According to Customs Statistics, total imports of polyester chip reached nearly 25,197 tons in July 2008. This showcases a decline of 1,153 tons or 4.38 percent from June, and less 3.96 percent when compared to July 2007.
Import value in the seventh month touched almost US $36,933, a slight rise of 0.11 percent from the previous month and an increase of 11.08 percent year-on-year. The average price of July imports was around $1,466 per ton, a hike of $66 or 4.77 percent from the previous month. This also marks a considerable increase of 11.08 percent from the same time of 2007.
From January to July this year, China's total imports of polyester chip came around 129,979 tons, representing a significant drop of almost 27.39 percent when compared to first seven months of 2007.
The import value during this period amounted to approximately $1.846 billion, a year-on-year decline of 15.41 percent. The average price of imports was nearly $1,421 per ton, rising 16.49 percent when compared to previous year.
