Sep '08
The PTA plant of Samsung Petrochemicals is operating at reduced capacity levels. The plant which is located at Daesan has a production capacity of 700,000 metric tons per year.

Ms. Daisy, spokesperson of the petrochemical giant spoke to fibre2fashion and said “It is a regular maintenance turnaround and is expected to resume full operations shortly, though final date of restart is still undecided.”

Market sources suggest that many petrochemical plants in South-East Asia are reducing their operating levels is due to poor operating margins and decline in demand for petrochemical products from downstream players.

The plant is currently running at 75 percent capacity.
