Rieter award 2008 presented to students across the globe

The Rieter Award has been presented every year since 1989 to students and young professionals.
The attractive prize awarded by Rieter encourages not only young talent but equally universities and institutes. A lively contact between Rieter, the training personnel and the winners is thereby created.
The Rieter Award 2008 was presented to Mr. Yuguang Yang (China), Mr. Yusuf Ali Syed (India), Mr. Mohammad Owais Raza Siddiqui (Pakistan) and Mr. Orcun Cakici (Turkey).
Selection of the award winners is carried out in close cooperation with universities and professors worldwide.
Students and young professionals in the sphere of textiles who have distinguished themselves by well-founded work and great efforts are selected.
As the prize includes an invitation to Rieter in Winterthur where they present their final theses, a good knowledge of English is a prerequisite.
Compared to previous years, a clear increase in the quality of the topics and also in the presentation techniques was apparent.
The award week 2008 took place in September. During their visit, the award winners could get to know Rieter, its products, its culture and its values.
Priority was also given to establishing personal contact with Rieter employees and management members.
The visits made to Rieter Automotive Heatshields in Sevelen and to the fine yarn spinner Spörry in Flums were only a few of the highlights.
The winners showed great interest in the professional explanations given and asked numerous questions.
A trip to the Rhein Falls was naturally a „must“ and to experience the water masses at close quarters always makes a great impression. The week was rounded off with an outing to Lucerne.
A boat trip on the Lake of Lucerne and the journey with the world's steepest cog railway (Pilatus 2,132 meters above sea level) is something the award winners will certainly not forget in a hurry.
