The largest wool supplier in the US, Bentley Dye Services Inc, which is based in Calhoun, has recently purchased nearly 42 acres of land in McDaniel Station Business Park for establishing a new polyester extrusion/yarn mill manufacturing facility.

According to the authorities, the first phase will consist of constructing an environmental friendly polyester yarn plant with an approximate capital investment of US $30 million. It is believed that nearly 75 new jobs will be created for the people of Gordon County for working in this polyester unit.

The new plant will have machinery with latest technology, which will save energy and will not cause harm to the natural surroundings. This new unit will also incorporate facilities like climate control that will make the working environment comfortable for the workers.

Some of the machinery installed is the first of its kind to be run the entire United States. The wool supplier is presently waiting for the final engineering approval, and once they get it, the construction will begin next month and production is expected to commence by September 2009.

The new unit will manufacture polyester yarn that will be especially produced for basic and mid level markets. It is believed that polyester will be a major factor in providing yarns to the carpet industry in near future.

Also, with the ever increasing oil rates and nylon getting costlier, market experts opine that polyester can offer good economic advantages.

Bentley Dye has been supplying wool yarn to the high-end markets for rugs and carpets in various parts of US.
